It is no coincidence that a training proposal of this magnitude matures here. We are talking about a fertile cultural soil, from which germinate various scientific, training and artistic initiatives, that develop progressively involving many local actors and winning the interest of outside parties. Representatives of institutions and business enterprises in farming, craft and industrial, political and religious communities, scientists and artists are working for some time to show the culture of Monferrato.

The module on Environment and Landscape Management System (ELMS), taught by Prof. Riccardo Beltramo, presents principles, techniques and examples, which, caught together, become instruments available for future Masters of Territory. The content of the teaching comes from a course that combines theory and practice, made especially in the field or, better, going to the mountains and hills, before during and after the research that influenced the volume on the Environment and Landscape Management System, Aracne 2011. It starts from there and it adds a lot of new.

Scatol8® is one of the main new features, which can be helpful to new professionals. Our system lends itself to countless variations, based on the needs and personal tastes; under the Master, Scatol8® may become a useful support to strengthen the evaluation and management of various activities, a smart gadget or a sympathetic reminder of the values expressed by the territory. All this is being explored with the promising group of students!

The teaching proposal includes integrated management systems and trademarks for the qualification of the territories, with particular attention to the tourism offer expressed by territories, showing their qualities, but especially by properly communicating it with a range of media, modulating the messages appropriately to the categories of tourists who arrive in Monferrato.Promoting equality & Equity
On December 6, we were involved in the second meeting of ELMS, quickly proceeding to the discovery of our business model and functionality Scatol8®. The lesson took place, in this case really by chance, in a classroom that was decorated by a row of colorful t-shirts, each with a different writing. They reported all principles related to the Sustainability of Development and, therefore, also ELMS. Not only that, they extended, amplifying, the social dimension, which is linked to the concepts of respect, fairness, dialogue, participation and support.

But, whence sprang these t-shirts? Probably they referred to an international initiative, but which one? Here is the answer! Has it provided Dr. Maeve Foreman, Assistant Professor in Social Work, Trinity College Dublin who has published on the net a presentation of March 21, 2014.

March 21 was the World Social Work Day. In the presentation, you will find not only the same theory of t-shirt – a kind of landmark on sustainability – but also discover the activities that the Irish researcher performs in her capacity as Committee Member / Secretary, Mud Island Community Garden.

P1030967A rich set of photographs demonstrates the involvement of the people in the organization and conduct of community gardens. It is redevelopment of abandoned spaces that takes place through the action of the whole community, each component operates on the basis of their knowledge and skills and all engage in the realization of a project that gives life to live the concept of sustainable development. In the words of Maeve Foreman: “Today the garden is a source of recreation, education and sustainability for the local community.”

We were looking for a classroom and found an environment inspired by sustainability. We had confirmation of what was stated at the beginning: here there is land that is cultivated meticulously, that of sustainability, there is a culture, the relationship between man and environment, working in depth the fundamentals of sustainability and offers them, with means the most current and appropriate, because take root and flourish, with the benefit of the population, tourists and local. What better inspiration for a new professional who will ensure sustainable development to the territories?
