Last year, on December 11, we announced the imminent installation of Scatol8® Network in Primary School “Dominican Sisters” of Testona, Moncalieri (TO). Here we are!
Since then we have worked with the Teachers of Classes III, IV and V to set the activities that will take February 17 to inaugurate the new installation and to submit it to the parents of students, on Thursday, February 18.
In our laboratory we made the nodes of Scatol8® Network. We got to try new sensors, actuators and methods of communication between the nodes; to prepare a customized dashboard – Crusc8, colorful and rich in indicators.
Meanwhile, Pupils and Teachers have worked hard to build beautiful containers, which we will reveal shortly. Let’s see some phases of the their activities.
They can monitor the temperature and humidity in all classrooms; then, in a classroom they will also control the luminance, the humidity of the soil of a vase of flowers, which will be irrigated with a special actuator; in another classroom, they will record the power consumption of the personal computer and the air quality.
The numbers displayed on Crusc8, the instantaneous values of variables and the time series, will be offered to pupils by Teachers, to introduce concepts and stimulate reflections on Science, Technology, Education to Image and Mathematics. The preparation of reports on this experience will also involve the Italian Language Teacher.
This is a comprehensive application of the tabs “At School with Scatol8®” which takes place for the first time in a primary school. Education to Sustainability starts early!
